2014 Camp Staff Bios

C.T. Rhames (Camp Facilitator/Director of “High School Musical, Jr.”) made her San Antonio main stage debut here at the Jo Long Theatre (Carver) in “The Lion King” as Sarabi. Since then she has performed in the following San Antonio productions: “A Little Touch of Soul”, “Steel Magnolias”, “Silent No More”, “Backstage Alley”, “King and I”, “Oklahoma”, “Legally Blonde” and “Hello Dolly”.

As an educator she also directs many school productions for school age children. She also, is a creative playwright and has written several works, some of which were included in the 2013 “Rags to Riches” summer camp production. A crowning moment for her was when she co-starred with Anani, her daughter in “The Lion King”, as well as, performed alongside her in the San Pedro Playhouse production of “King and I”. She credits all her gifts to God and thanks her family for their awesome support.

Jenelva Carter (Camp Instructor/Director of “Summer School”) is the director of theatre
at Wagner high school. Previously she taught theatre at George Gervin Academy. She has a BA in theatre from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Aiyana Johnson (Stage Manager of “High School Musical, Jr.”) – is excited to stage mange her second summer camp show. “It has been an awesome learning experience where I have the chance to utilize my strengths as an organized, detailed oriented professional. It brings me delight to be behind the scenes to help make the magic happen. There is nothing more amazing that watching the evolution of a production.”

Shamona Carter (Stage Manager of “Summer School”) has been a fan of theater for several years. She has been involved in other drama camps. And she graced us with her gift as a playwright by writing this year’s “Summer School” script for the 2014 Beginner’s camp production.

Mark Anthony Hall (Vocal Director) is a singer and actor originally from San Antonio, Texas. Having enjoyed a 20 year career as an actor and singer, he has shared his gifts around the world!

His professional credits include operatic debuts that have taken him to some of the world’s most renowned opera houses from Augusta to Zürich, in more notable houses like Teatro ala Scala, Opera du Bastille, Deutsche Oper in Cologne and Düsseldorf, Opera den Norske and Teatro del Opera in Rome and Capetown Opera. His theatrical appearances have taken him to more than 400 venues, both American and abroad. His most noted roles include: Lampy Crawford in the off-Broadway debut of Richard Wolf’s “The Ebony Game”, Coalhouse Walker Jr. in “Ragtime”, Fred in “Smokey Joe’s Cafe”, The Chimney Man in “Jelly’s Last Jam”, Nat Turner in “Insurrection: Holding History”, Mister in Oprah Winfrey’s “ The Color Purple”, Escamillo in “Carmen”, Agwe in “Once on this island” and, more recently, Amonasro in Elton John and Tim Rice’s “Aida”, Baritone Soloist in the phenomenal “Riverdance” and he was most recently as Porgy and as Jake in “The Gershwins’ “Porgy and Bess” with Capetown Opera and the Hamburgische Staatsoper, respectively.

Mark Anthony Hall is a member of Actors Equity Association, American Guild of Musical Artists, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild.
Mark thanks God for the gifts he has been given and thankful for the opportunity to share these gifts whenever and wherever possible.

Jacqueline Denise Carter, aka “Jackyee” (Vocal Assistant) began her acting career in 2006 when she made her first theatrical appearance in DREAMGIRLS. From that moment on she knew she had the “bug.” Since then she has appeared in the musicals DO NOT PASS ME BY, AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’, CROWNS, as well as MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL. Jacqueline was also blessed to compete and place on American Idol during the 2006 – 2007 season. She has shared the stage with the late great Sherman Hemsley (George Jefferson) and music legends Tony Terry, and Gary “Lil G” Jenkins of the R&B group Silk, as well as has opened for gospel greats Marvin Sapp and Tri-ni-tee 5:7.

In the Fall of 2011 she produced and released her first CD, “Broken but Perfected for My Purpose”, and is now working on her sophomore project, “Refocused”. She credits all her success to God first and secondly, to the love and support of her parents, family, and friends. (I love you mom and dad!)

Lorenzo Hall (Choreographer) – is very excited to be a part of this year’s theater camp. This isn’t his first time with TRG he has participated in many events with TRG. He has been technically trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and many more, and has been dancing for 10+ years. Lorenzo is currently studying Biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio and minoring in Dance. Lorenzo wants to thank God and TRG for this great opportunity.

Jillian Jones (Assistant Choreographer) has been with The Renaissance Guild since 2010. Aside from acting and dancing in several productions, she has choreographed several numbers with the organization. This is her first year with the Summer Theatre Camp for kids. She wants to thank God, her family and the staff of The Renaissance Guild.

Kathrine Johnson (Costume Designer) specializes in custom sewing for costumes and weddings. She studied Master Design Tailoring in Philadelphia and has operated her own company, New Creations-making Fabric Fit Fantasy here in San Antonio for over 20 years. She has worked with families and theatres in San Antonio including The Playhouse, Harlequin, the Carver and Woodlawn and is now Costume Designer for TRG. Some corporate clients include: Top Chef, HEB and IBC and many production companies. Recently she received the Costume Design award from ATAC for “When Pigs Fly,” with Woodlawn Black Box Theatre. She is very excited to be working on this production.
